Soroptimists offer scholarship to re-entry women

Soroptimist International of Greater Davis invites local residents to apply for its Women’s Opportunity Award, a scholarship given annually to a single parent and head of household who is re-entering a college or university.

The Women’s Opportunity Award program helps women who are the primary bread-winners for their families by giving them the resources they need to improve their education, skills and employment prospects.

In addition to providing primary financial support for their families, applicants must be enrolled in, or have been accepted to, a vocational/skills training program or an undergraduate degree program and must demonstrate financial need.

Women’s Opportunity Award recipients may use the cash award to offset any costs associated with their studies, such as books, child care, tuition and transportation.

For more information or to receive an application, call Marion Jazwinski at 530-753-7227. The deadline for applications is Oct. 15.
