Soup’s On will benefit meals for seniors

By From page A4 | January 14, 2014

The 10th annual Soup’s On fundraiser hosted by Yolo County Supervisor Don Saylor will take place Thursday, Jan. 30, from 6 to 8:30 p.m. at the St. James Community Center, 1275 B St.

Tickets will be sold at the door at $25 per person (suggested donation) and $15 for students. Kids 10 and under are free, and there will be free child care.

Restaurants throughout Yolo County will serve their signature soups, and Calvin Handy and the Jazz Patrol will entertain with live music.

The event benefits the Elderly Nutrition Program/Meals on Wheels of Yolo County. The program, which serves 350 to 400 hot, nutritious meals to seniors each weekday, suffered a cut in its federal funding, and the event seeks to preserve this much-needed service for seniors.
