Springer to offer college admission tips at DHS

Parents and students can receive tips on the college admissions process at a parent information night being held Wednesday, Oct. 17, in the Davis High School library, 315 W. 14th St. Sally Springer, associate chancellor emerita at UC Davis, will present “Calming the College Admissions Frenzy: Eight Common Mistakes and How to Avoid Them,” from 7:30 to 9 p.m.

Her talk will cover several important points about the college admissions process, including information on how to build a college list, what colleges look for in applicants and financial aid.

Springer, a psychologist with more than 30 years of experience in higher education as a professor and university administrator, is a co-author of the best-selling book, “Admission Matters: What Students and Parents Need to Know About Getting Into College.” She also has written “How to Succeed in College,” a guidebook for college freshmen.
