Stroll Through History showcases Woodland

Woodland’s Stroll Through History will celebrate its 25th anniversary on Saturday, Sept. 7. Free guided walking tours through the historic neighborhoods will highlight homes from the 1870s through the 1940s. There also will be two bike tours in the morning.

The popular ticketed open home tour will feature houses built from the 1870s to the 1950s. Tickets also are available for two architect-led afternoon bus tours (think air-conditioned). To purchase tickets, and learn about all of the free events, visit www.strollthroughhistory.com.

As a co-founder of the Stroll Through History, along with Mike Davis and David Wilkinson and others, I am just delighted to see that the tradition carries on. The first stroll party consisted mostly of the people who worked on creating it and we numbered around 25 souls. My last participation saw literally thousands of people taking the walk. What a legacy this event is to the untiring, unrelenting and dedicated people who were devoted to the preservation of Woodland's majestic and architecturally significant buildings.
