Davis City Councilwoman Rochelle Swanson will announce her intention to seek re-election at a gathering at noon Saturday at Davis Roots, Second and E streets in downtown Davis.

“While reflecting upon my first term in office, it is clear we have made great progress as a community,” Swanson said in a written statement. “But there is still work to be done to accomplish the sustainability and resilience that prompted me to accept the request to run in 2010.

“I am truly excited for the opportunity to keep doing the hard, yet rewarding work of representing our great community and the individuals who make it special.”

Swanson invites her friends and supporters to join her as she kicks off her re-election campaign. For more information or to volunteer, contact Brian Horsfield at 530-902-5796/brian@rochellefordavis.org or Eileen Samitz at 530-756-5165/eileen@dcn.davis.ca.us.

Swanson would bring to three the number of declared candidates for two seats on the council. Robb Davis, a public health professional and staunch bicycle advocate, and Daniel Parrella, a 2009 Da Vinci High School graduate and solar power entrepreneur, already have announced their bids.

The seats are being vacated by Swanson and Mayor Joe Krovoza, who is running for the 4th Assembly District.
