Talk and drum circle set Aug. 2
The next Davis Community Men’s Talk and Drum Circle is Tuesday, Aug. 2, from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m., at FamiliesFirst, 2100 Fifth St. Men 18 years and older are invited. There is no charge for these events.
The talk circles allow men to explore who they are as men, often with a desire to fulfill a much deeper and enduring vision of masculinity.
“One primal and essential resource, too often underutilized, is that of our community elders,” an organizer says. “The Talk and Drum Circle believes elders have an essential and vital life-enhancing role, that of bestowing blessings, especially onto younger men. A blessing gives one a deep sense of validation, of being seen and being held.
“Many men are recognizing that they are drawn into a kindred collectivity, to this end, the talk circles welcome men to be seen and to be heard for who they are, as they step into their genuine, authentic selves,” the organizer says.
