Suicide Prevention and Crisis Services of Yolo County is looking for volunteers who want to be trained this spring to answer its crisis lines.
Volunteers undergo a 36-hour training program in which they develop the skills needed to manage issues of depression, suicide, family relationship conflicts and mental illness. Initially, volunteers serve six hours per week, with a one-year service commitment upon successful completion of the training program.
“Your voice and your ear are more valuable than you can imagine,” a news release said. “Volunteers have been, and continue to be the backbone of this agency.”
To apply, download an application at suicidepreventionyolocounty.org. Interviews will take place through March 22.
Selected volunteers must attend every training date: from 6 to 9 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays, April 2, 4, 9, 11, 16, 18, 23 and 25, plus 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, April 6-7.
