By From page A4 | April 17, 2013

The Tremont Mite Society of the Westminster Presbyterian Church invites local residents to their biennial social as they celebrate the society’s 150th anniversary, from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday, April 28. The event will take place at Tremont Church, 8290 Tremont Road, between Davis and Dixon.

The Tremont Mite Society was formed in 1863 by the women of the Tremont region to raise funds for the building of a local church. As the longest continuously chartered women’s organization in the state of California, the society continues to accept memorial donations for the maintenance of the church and serves as a social organization that helps keep current area residents and descendants of the original founders of the church connected to each other and to the region’s history.
