Two workshops Saturday at Central Park Gardens

By From page A4 | January 09, 2013

Garden lovers are invited to start the new year with a free workshop on the ins and outs of dormant pruning at 9:30 a.m. Saturday in the Central Park Gardens. Master Gardener Steve Radosovich will lead the workshop, explaining that dormant pruning is done to encourage growth to a desired shape as well as to strengthen a tree or bush for the fruiting season.

At 11 a.m., Master Gardener Linda Parsons will present a workshop on rose care and pruning. Dormant care of roses leads to less disease and stronger bushes and blooms.

The Central Park Gardens are near the corner of Third and B streets, in the southwest corner of Central Park. For more information, call Master Gardener Peg Smith at 530-756-8409.
