‘Village community’ movement discussed

By From page A4 | March 20, 2014

Andy Gaines, executive director of Ashby Village, will give an overview of the Ashby Village in Berkeley and discuss what it takes to create a “village community” when he speaks at 3 p.m. Thursday, March 27, at the Davis Senior Center, 646 A St.

The “village community” concept is that a community of people can pool their resources by paying membership dues and volunteering their skills and time to support the village infrastructure and to assist one another.

Seniors and others who are considering buying homes at The Cannery, a newly approved development on the former Hunt-Wesson cannery site at Covell Boulevard and J Street, are especially invited to attend.

For more information or to RSVP, call the Senior Center information desk at 530-757-5696. For more information on Ashby Village, visit www.ashbyvillage.org.
