STEAC, the Short-Term Emergency Aid Committee, invites community members to donate canned goods and other nonperishable food — plus a bit of their time — in the annual food drive Saturday co-sponsored by the Yolo County Board of Realtors and U.S. Post Office employees. Getting a jump start are, from left, Kim Eichorn of Lyon Real Estate; Bob Bockwinkel of Lyon Real Estate, who chairs the food drive; Richard Yamagata of Virtual Market Enterprises; and Roberta Stuart of Lyon Real Estate. “STEAC has experienced a huge increase in demand this year for services provided by our food closet,” said board president Cass Sylvia. STEAC needs volunteers to pick up food all around Davis; if you have a couple of hours to spare, give the STEAC office a call at 530-758-8435. Volunteers will report to the post office at 2020 Fifth St. between 10 and 10:15 a.m. Saturday to pick up their route. This food drive is a major provider for the STEAC food closet, which supplies food for more than 64,500 meals each year in Davis. Fred Gladdis/Enterprise photo
