Volunteers needed for sister-city mailing project

Volunteers are needed to help with the annual Davis Friends of Rutilio Grande holiday fundraiser. Funds pay for scholarships for young people in Rutilio Grande, El Salvador, one of Davis’ sister cities.

Volunteers will help prepare a mailing from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday at the home of Terry Turner, chair, 1224 Beech Lane in Davis.

This year marks the 20th anniversary of the Davis sister-city relationship with Rutilio Grande. In that time, fundraising has helped sponsor schooling for hundreds of young people in the sister city, which has no school beyond the sixth grade. Scholarships pay for students’ transportation to outlying schools and the university as well as for uniforms, fees and supplies.

To volunteer, call Turner at 530-756-7681.
