The city of Davis will offer a four-day American Red Cross Water Safety Instructor course at the Community Pool Building & Pool on the weekends of Sept. 10 and 18.
The course costs $200 and runs from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. each day. It is a prerequisite to work as a swim instructor for many agencies, including the city of Davis.
Participants must be at least 16 years old and able to swim 25 yards of front crawl, back crawl, breaststroke, elementary backstroke, sidestroke and butterfly.
The WSI course helps participants teach skills that may save a life, gain work experience as an aquatic professional and prepare for a future job as a swim instructor.
