Local residents who shop Wednesday at Whole Foods Market in Davis will be supporting Cal Aggie Camp, which provides underprivileged and inner-city youths an opportunity to experience the outdoors and enjoy being a kid.
The grocer in Davis Commons, 500 First St., will donate 5 percent of gross sales Wednesday to the camp, which was chosen for the support in an online and in-store contest. A total of 766 votes were collected and Cal Aggie Camp received 547.
The Davis Art Center and the Davis High School Bands each received a $250 gift card as runners-up in the voting.
Camp counselors will be at the store Wednesday giving away free gelato bars to anyone who makes a purchase of $50 or more, and leading a friendship bracelet-making activity. A UCD a cappella group, Liquid Hotplates, also will perform.
Whole Foods is open daily from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m.
