Winters chess club meets Saturdays

By From page A9 | February 03, 2013

Beginning Saturday, Feb. 9, the Yolo County Library will host a Chess Club from 1 to 3 p.m. every Saturday at the Winters Community Library, 708 Railroad Ave. The club will offer free chess lessons for players of all levels.

The club will be led by chess coach Roberto C. Delgadillo, a librarian at UC Davis, who has been honored for his exceptional work in public and school libraries by the Carnegie Corp. of New York, The New York Times and the American Library Association with the “I Love My Librarian” award.

“The purpose of this program is to help bring people of all ages and walks of life together,” Delgadillo said. “Playing a game of chess develops both logical and critical thinking skills while promoting imagination and creativity.”

The club is free. For more information, visit www.yolocountylibrary.org.
