Everyone interested in learning about the “now effect” and the healing power of mindfulness is invited to attend a workshop from 1 to 2:30 p.m. Sunday hosted by the Unity Center of Davis. The presenter is Elisha Goldstein, Ph.D., the author of “The Now Effect, How this Moment Can Change the Rest of Your Life.”

“Drawing on cutting-edge psychology, neuroscience and mindfulness practices, Goldstein identifies the importance of the now effect: that moment of mindfulness and clarity that occurs when we pause, break free from auto-pilot and step into the spaces of awareness all around us,” a news release said.

The workshop is designed to help participants break free from debilitating beliefs and thoughts, approach difficulties and barriers with grace and ease, alleviate stress and pain, cultivate emotional freedom, have better focus at home and at work, communicate more effectively, and have more empathy toward themselves and others.

The workshop is at the Veterans’ Memorial Center, 203 E. 14th St. in Davis. A donation of $20 is suggested. For more information, contact Unity Center of Davis at www.unityofdavis.org or call 530-758-2424.
