Yolo County CASA seeks volunteer child advocates

By
From page A5 | July 30, 2013 |

Yolo County CASA (Court-Appointed Special Advocates) trains, screens and supports volunteers to advocate for abused and neglected children in the foster care system. After successfully completing our 30-hour training and rigorous background screening, volunteers are appointed by the juvenile dependency court judge to advocate for a child in the foster care system.

CASAs spend time with the child they’ve been appointed to, talk with other professionals and caregivers in the child’s life, and advocate for that child’s best interests in court. Every child who has a CASA volunteer knows they have a committed, caring adult helping to ensure that their voices are heard and their needs are met.

Yolo County CASA will conduct orientation sessions at noon every Thursday and at 6 p.m. on the last Tuesday of the month at its offices at 724 Main St., Suite 102, in Woodland. To reserve a space at an orientation, call 530-661-4200 or email volunteer@yolocasa.org. The next training session will begin on Aug. 21 and end on Sept. 11.
