Burning Man comes to Woodland

Davis photographer Laurie Friedman will show her images of the Burning Man Festival at next week’s meeting of the Woodland Camera Forum. The group meets at 7 p.m. Tuesday, June 18, at 70 Cottonwood St. in Woodland.

“You may have heard about the Burning Man Festival in the Nevada desert and may have wanted to go, but perhaps you’ve been a little nervous about the whole event,” a news release said. “Drawn by the photo opportunities, Laurie summoned her nerve, bought an old RV, found two friends to join her and went to Burning Man in 2011 — and had an amazing, creative, wonderful time.

“Come experience Burning Man, without the heat and the sandstorms!”

Refreshments will be provided.

Members of the Woodland Camera Forum also will display and discuss printed images of their work. Community member are invited to the free program. Colorful, creative, Burning Man-style attire is encouraged.
