Calvin Handy & The Jazz Patrol play at I-House

By From page A9 | April 10, 2012

Calvin Handy & The Jazz Patrol are the featured performers at Sunday’s Mid-Winter @ I-House music series. Open-mic sessions also are planned during the event, which runs from 7 to 10 p.m. at International House, Davis, 10 College Park. All ages are welcome.

The Handy quintet has an eclectic approach to jazz standards, is known for bouncy Latin and funk grooves, and creates unusual arrangements for be-bop, jazz ballads, mellow Bossa and R&B tunes.

Calvin Handy leads the band on tenor saxophone, with Robert Blake on guitar, Erik Larson on bass, Dean McGee on trumpet and flugelhorn and Jeff Minnieweather on drums.

Admission is free, but donations are accepted with gratitude. Desserts and beverages will be available for purchase.
