Camp Kesem needs advisory board members

By From page A7 | November 08, 2013

Camp Kesem at UC Davis is looking for community members to join its advisory board. The camp is a nonprofit, student-run organization that puts on a free weeklong summer camp for children ages 6-16 who have a parent diagnosed with cancer.

Camp Kesem provides a fun, safe and understanding environment for its campers, as other campers and most counselors also have been in similar cancer-related situations. This year, the goal is to raise $80,000 and send 120 children to camp.

The advisory board meets once a month, in the evening, with the camp’s team of coordinators. Board members will brainstorm ideas that will help the chapter reach its fundraising goal, camper goal and overall effectiveness of the UCD Camp Kesem Chapter.
