Capay Valley Almond Festival celebrates 99 years

By From page A3 | February 21, 2014

From music to art, a car show to a craft fair, the 99th annual Capay Valley Almond Festival on Sunday has something for the whole family. The event runs from 8 to 5 p.m. in six towns along Highway 16 in northwestern Yolo County.

Starting in the south in Madison, festivalgoers can stop in Esparto, Capay, Brooks, Guinda and Rumsey. Each venue features something new, from music and dancing to art shows and food tasting.

Esparto — the festival headquarters — will hold festivities in the park with crafters, tastings, book sale, music, car show, almond tasting and baking and a pancake breakfast.

In Guinda, there are more crafters, tastings and a petting zoo.

Rumsey will host an art show, organic produce, a silent auction and special children’s area — hands-on farm activities and demonstrations.

For more information, visit www.espartoregionalchamber.com. The festival is sponsored in cooperation with the Chamber of Commerce of each host city.
