Carbahal and Company celebrates 30 years

John and Manny Carbahal hung out their shingle for the first time at their Kennedy Place office on Aug. 1, 1984. The brothers started out in a two-room office with one employee, Judy Hamilton, who is still with them today. The firm now spans four suites in the same Kennedy Place complex where everything started 30 years ago.

They invite the community to celebrate their 30th anniversary at the firm’s annual open house from 5:30 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 7, at their office, 1107 Kennedy Place, Suite 5.

Throughout the past 30 years, the Carbahals have been active in the community and have supported many nonprofits, including Rotary, Kiwanis and the Davis Chamber of Commerce.

Giving back to the community has always been a hallmark of their business model. Carbahal & Company was honored in 2009 with the Bill Streng Business of the Year Award from the Chamber and was recognized for its excellence in local economic development in 2011 by the city of Davis.

John Carbahal currently serves as chairman of the board for First Northern Bank of Dixon.

Manny Carbahal was chairman of the Davis Chamber of Commerce board in 2004.

Since 1984, the firm has grown to include three additional partners and 13 full-time staff members, including John Carbahal’s daughter, Stephanie. Many of the firm’s employees have been with the Carbahals for 10 years or more, continuity that allows the firm to provide exceptional service to its clients.

Carbahal & Company offers a broad range of services, from tax preparation to business valuations and consulting. The firm recently adopted a companywide mission of “being a premier accounting firm with one purpose: improving the financial success and well-being of our clients, employees and community.”

Avid cyclists, John and Manny often can be seen on their bikes around town or attending local bike rides.
