By From page B8 | May 23, 2012

A “Celebration of Nancy’s Life” will be conducted Saturday for Nancy Takahashi Hatamiya, who died May 15 after a yearlong battle with lung cancer. She was 52.

Her husband of 22 years, Lon, says “we want Nancy to be remembered for what a great person she was. We want to celebrate her life.”

Ms. Hatamiya is also survived by her sons George, a Davis High baseball player who will attend Haverford College (Pa.); Jon, a trombone student and composer at the Manhattan School of Music, New York; and her brother Joseph (Dallas) and sister Tina (Gaithersburg, Md.).

A program will start at 2 p.m. at the UC Davis Conference Center, across from the Mondavi Center.

Parking is free in the lots nearby. The program is followed by a reception until 4:30 p.m. “We welcome all of her friends from Davis,” Lon Hatamiya added.

The family is requesting that, in lieu of flowers, donations in Nancy’s name be made to the American Lung Association.
