Chorale presents free concerts in November

By From page A9 | October 26, 2011

The community is invited to a free concert, “Remembrances: Songs of Love and Faith,” performed by the Davis Community Chorale at 8 p.m. Friday, Nov. 11, and 4 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 13, at Davis Community Church, 412 C St.

Conducted by artistic director Alison Skinner, the 60-member chorale will sing the “Liebeslieder Waltzes” by Brahms and American folk songs and hymns by contemporary composers, including Aaron Copland.

“Our November concert features music to warm your heart,” Skinner said. “The Brahms love songs are little snippets of love stories and we can all relate to the emotions in these songs. The old hymns and folk songs are uniquely American, with a lot of beauty and spirit, as well as humor.”
