An award-winning book co-edited by Davis resident Jeanne DeFazio is on sale at The Avid Reader bookstore, with proceeds going to Davis Community Meals and the AIDS Assistance Program. DeFazio was joined by John Lathrop as co-editor.

“Creative Ways to Build Christian Community” recently received a Golden Halo Award for Literary Excellence from the Southern California Motion Picture Council.

“ ‘Creative Ways to Build Christian Community’ illustrates the conviction that drawing on God’s grace creates a mutually supportive human community,” said Bee Beyer, senior vice president of the Motion Picture Council. “The poignant chapters of this excellently crafted book highlight the values for which the SCMPC has stood unwaveringly since 1936: to produce art that is civic-minded, educational, cultural and family-oriented.”

The Avid Reader is at 617 Second St. in downtown Davis.
