Local residents are invited to attend two free previews of a 13-week financial makeover program at the United Methodist Church of Davis. They will run from noon to 1 p.m. Sunday and 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 26, in the Walker Room at the church, 1620 Anderson Road.
The nationally renowned Financial Peace University program is biblically grounded and teaches how to save money, live on a budget, communicate about money, eliminate debt, find bargains and experience the joy of giving.
On average, Financial Peace University class graduates pay off $5,300 in debt and save $2,700 in the 13 weeks of the course.
“The great thing about this program is that it teaches you how you can change your financial future no matter where you are in life right now,” said the Rev. Kelly Love, senior pastor at the Methodist Church. “It’s thanks to this course that my partner and I were able to move to Davis.”
Becca Cramer will facilitate the course. Cramer grew up in Davis and participated in the course in 2010 with her partner. Topics will include investments, insurance, retirement, real estate, college planning, careers, debt collectors, credit reports and more.
The cost is $100 per household, which includes a lifetime family membership, workbook, budgeting software for a PC, envelope system and all 13 lessons on CD.
Classes will meet weekly at the church from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Thursdays from Feb. 9 to May 3.
To sign up, visit www.daveramsey.com/fpu/locate-classes/zip/95616 or come to the first class on Feb. 9. Child care may be available, so indicate interest when signing up.
