City fair recruits new volunteers

By From page A3 | May 29, 2013

Are you looking for a rewarding way to spend a few hours a week? Would you like to make a difference in your community?

If you answered yes, you should check out the city of Davis’ Volunteer Recruitment Fair at the Davis Farmers Market, from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday in Central Park, Fourth and C streets.

City volunteers perform a wide variety of functions, including clerical duties, traffic control assistance at major city events, graffiti cleanup, web page and social media support, working in recreation programs, doing neighborhood presentations and adopting a park or neighborhood.

Applicants who are interested in one-time volunteer opportunities as well as those looking for ongoing, longer-term positions are welcome. Volunteers for the Police Cadet Program must be at least 13 years old.

“Volunteerism is invaluable to our city, and with your help, we can continue to improve the quantity and quality of services we provide to our community,” a city news release said.

For more information, contact Danielle Luiz at the Davis Police Department at 530-747-5419 or [email protected]. Or, visit http://police.cityofdavis.org/city-0f-davis-volunteer-program.
