Council candidates at Vets’ Memorial forum

The Davis Vanguard will host a forum for Davis City Council candidates from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday, May 14, at the Veterans’ Memorial Center multipurpose room, 203 E. 14th St. in Davis.

Five candidates are seeking two open seats in the June 3 election: public health nurse and school board member Sheila Allen, public health advocate Robb Davis, retired soil scientist and former school board member John Munn, solar entrepreneur Daniel Parrella and incumbent Rochelle Swanson, a regional account manager.

The candidates, all of whom have confirmed attendance, will be asking each other questions about issues facing Davis this spring. The audience will have the opportunity to fill out note cards and pose their own questions to the council candidates.

“This forum is a great chance for constituents to hear the candidates’ views and ideas on a variety of issues facing our city,” said Vanguard executive director David Greenwald. “Since absentee ballots are being mailed out … we believe this is an opportune time for the public to educate themselves on the candidates’ stances.”
