After being out of production for many years, the historic Davis woven throw blankets are once again available to the public, on sale exclusively at the UC Davis Store Downtown, 630 Second St.
The blanket features 12 panels depicting iconic current and historic Davis locations and has been updated to feature the U.S. Bicycling Hall of Fame and Dutton Hall at UC Davis.
Other panels depict the original images: the Dresbach-Hunt-Boyer Mansion, a highwheeled bicycle, the Silo at UC Davis, the Central Park Carousel, the Boy Scout Cabin, the Hattie Weber Museum, Historic City Hall, the Southern Pacific Depot, the 1916 Davis Arch (formerly on what is now Second Street at G Street) and Davis City Hall (the former Davis High School).
The woven border of the throw depicts olive branches, tomatoes, watermelon slices, a cactus plant (from Cactus Corners) and a Lincoln penny representing the old Lincoln Highway that passed through Davis.
The blanket is made in the United States and measures 48-by-65 inches. Made of 100 percent cotton yarn in cream, cinnamon and navy blue, it is machine-washable and retails for $45.95.
The earlier versions of the Davis blanket were available at Discoveries, a downtown retail store fondly remembered from the 1970s and ’80s, then later at the Davis Chamber of Commerce office.
