“I am pleased that we are able to honor these early education pioneers and valued members of the community,” said Angela Fairchilds, president of Woodland Community College. “In doing so, we are proudly recognizing those who made our college possible for generations of students to pursue their educational goals close to home.”
The event will be emceed by Gary Sandy, a trustee of Yuba Community College District and former Woodland mayor. In addition to honoring the founders, the evening also will showcase the founding staff and faculty of the campus. This is the first of several planned events to honor individuals who helped bring the local college to the Woodland area, a news release said.
Woodland Community College was established in 1975 as an outreach center for the Yuba Community College District. Having achieved separate accreditation in 2008, the college became the 110th community college in the California system.
