Community members are invited to participate in the creation of a “welcoming bench” at Willett Elementary.

Acclaimed local artist Linda Fitz Gibbon will be working with community members to create tiles for the bench at 1:45 p.m. Wednesdays, April 16 and 23, at the school, 1207 Sycamore Lane.

A tax-deductible donation of $40 per tile will include a guided drawing/painting session where each participant will create a nature-themed tile to be permanently installed on the stone bench at the school entrance, next to the office. All proceeds will go towards future art projects on campus.

Fitz Gibbon said images on the bench will include an owl (the school mascot), the sun, the moon and flowers.

“The bench will provide a cheerful entrance and place to rest at the entrance of the school,” she said.

To reserve a session or find out more about the project, call the school office at 530-757-5460.
