In 2006, Davis artist Matt Connors, decided to sketch and paint his favorite places in and around Davis.
“Things seem to change so rapidly, that I wanted to capture scenes and give them a permanency,” said the 74-year-old artist.
Six years later, Connors completed hundreds of sketches and paintings and selected a sampling for his March show, “Davis & Beyond,” opening Friday at International House, 10 College Park. Connors will be honored at a reception that evening starting at 7 p.m.
He has been painting watercolors for more than 40 years and one of his favorite subjects has been the Davis train station. His paintings have won many awards, most recently the purchase award at the 43rd Annual Watercolor West Juried Exhibition in 2011.
