Constitution is subject of Davis essay contest

“How Does the U.S. Constitution Affect My Life?” is the subject of an essay contest for schoolchildren and adults, sponsored by We the People of Davis to commemorate the 226th anniversary of the U.S. Constitution.

The contest is divided into three categories for students in Davis schools — sixth-, ninth- and 12th-graders — as well as adults 19 years or older.

A $100 prize will be awarded to the winner in each category. There is no entry fee.

Entry are available at The Avid Reader, 617 Second St. in downtown Davis. Essays of 500 words or less must be submitted by 5 p.m. Friday, Sept. 13, at the winners will be announced Sept. 17, which is celebrated as Constitution Day.

The four winning essays will be read at a U.S. Constitution birthday celebration on Sept. 24 at the downtown bookstore.
