Coroner issues rulings in deaths of UCD student, homeless woman
The March death of UC Davis student Alexander Goldschneider has been ruled a suicide, Yolo County coroner’s officials said Monday.
Goldschneider, 21, died from an overdose of ibuprofen and diphenhydramine, the active ingredient in allergy medication, Chief Deputy Coroner Robert LaBrash said.
The human development major from Auburn was found dead in his Castilian Hall North dorm room on the afternoon of March 8. His family had contacted authorities after not hearing from him for several days.
LaBrash also said Monday his office was unable to determine the cause of death of a woman whose decomposed body was found along Highway 113 in Davis in December.
Jeannette Louise Izquierdo, 53, may have been dead for as long as a month when a transient discovered her body in a homeless camp between the highway and the west end of Drake Drive.
The advanced state of decomposition prevented coroner’s officials from pinpointing how Izquierdo died, but LaBrash said there was no evidence of foul play.
One of the last places Izquierdo had been seen was at Sutter Davis Hospital on Nov. 15, about a month before her body was found, LaBrash said.
