A 19-year-old Davis man was arrested on robbery charges over the weekend, Davis police reported.

Lt. Glenn Glasgow said officers were summoned at 6:10 p.m. Saturday to the Rite Aid store at 2135 Cowell Blvd., where Yousef Jamal Buzayan had been detained on suspicion of shoplifting.

“During the course of the investigation, it was determined that Buzayan had allegedly taken alcohol without paying for the merchandise,” Glasgow said. “When confronted, Buzayan attempted to flee and became involved in a struggle with employees. During the struggle, Buzayan allegedly assaulted one of the employees.”

Buzayan was arrested on suspicion of robbery and being a minor in possession of alcohol, Glasgow said.
