Concerned: It’s actually a stop light, there, not a stop sign. The story says the bike was travelling eastbound. I presume that means he was riding on the south side of the west-east street. The story says the car was travelling westbound, which suggests it was on the north side of the east-west street. So if the bike never turned–it’s possible the bike was turning left (meaning north), but that fact is not in this story–the car turning right (meaning north) on F Street could not collide with the bike going straight. …….. If no facts are wrong in the report, I would guess that where it says, “Stephan Ng of Davis was biking eastbound on East Eighth Street” leaves out that fact that he was also trying to turn north, and (given the angle of the sun at 5:50 pm) the driver probably never saw him when she turned right. But, again, if he kept going straight (east), they could not have collided in the mannner described in this story.

Or the driver stopped at the stop sign and the bicyclist ran the stop sign in to the side of the car which caused the accident?

“Stephan Ng of Davis was biking eastbound on East Eighth Street when he was struck … by a vehicle turning from westbound Eighth Street onto northbound F Street.” ……. It sounds like the car was turning right and the bicyclist was going straight in the opposite direction. If that was the case, I don’t understand how this collision happened. Is it possible that the car was instead ‘turning from westbound Eighth Street onto southbound F Street’? Or that the bike was instead also heading in the same direction as the car and the car turned right into his path?
