California Highway Patrol officers arrested two suspected impaired drivers over the weekend following separate incidents in the Davis area.
Amber E. Hightower, 34, of Davis, was taken into custody at about 3:20 p.m. Friday after passing traffic that had been stopped for a construction zone on westbound Olive Drive east of Richards Boulevard, nearly colliding head-on with an eastbound vehicle, CHP Officer Cindy Leal said.
An officer who stopped Hightower noticed signs of alcohol intoxication and took her into custody, Leal said.
At about 10 a.m. Sunday, the CHP received multiple calls of a Honda traveling erratically on eastbound Interstate 80 toward Sacramento. The driver crashed into the center divider, then came to rest on the right side of the road with a flat tire.
The driver, 24-year-old Gregory Hourcaillou of Newark, was arrested on suspicion of DUI, Leal said. Officers also arrested his passenger, 24-year-old Lauren Taylor of Newark, for allegedly being under the influence of a controlled substance.
