California Highway Patrol investigators are seeking the driver of a vehicle that struck and killed a pedestrian on Highway 113 north of Davis early Saturday morning before fleeing the scene.
Yolo County coroner’s officials identified the victim as 21-year-old Vladimir Debabov, a UC Berkeley student from Foster City. The CHP reported that he was walking in the northbound traffic lanes of the highway just north of County Road 29 when he was struck at about 3:50 a.m. Saturday.
Debabov suffered fatal injuries and died at the scene, Chief Deputy Coroner Robert LaBrash said. It was unclear why Debabov was in the Yolo County area.
Investigators released no information about the suspect vehicle, which left the scene of the fatal collision. It was unknown whether alcohol was a factor in the incident.
Anyone with information about this investigation is urged to call the CHP’s Woodland office at (530) 662-4685.
