Davis’ series of copper wire thefts continued last week when someone stole thousands of dollars’ worth of the material from the Davis High School football field, police said.
About 800 feet of copper wire was stolen sometime last week, affecting the lighting on the east side of the football field, according to Lt. Paul Doroshov. The theft was discovered Friday morning by a school electrician and member of the DHS athletic staff.
Doroshov placed the value of the loss and resulting damage at between $6,000 and $9,000. It was unknown whether the theft is related to previous thefts of copper wire from local parks and greenbelts.
