Dad faces child cruelty charges

By From page A2 | January 15, 2014

Davis police arrested a 31-year-old man Tuesday night on suspicion of child cruelty.

According to Lt. Glenn Glasgow, officers were dispatched at about 10:20 p.m. to the 2700 block of Pole Line Road to investigate reports of a juvenile screaming for help.

The young boy, whose age was not disclosed, reported being assaulted and locked in a room by his father, who then left the residence. He was later contacted by police and arrested on suspicion of willful cruelty to a child and false imprisonment, Glasgow said.

Officers took the boy into protective custody during the incident, Glasgow said. The Enterprise is withholding the father’s name in order to protect the child’s identity.
