A Davis man was arrested Thursday by Davis police for allegedly physically and sexually assaulting his ex-girlfriend earlier this week.

Just after midnight Monday, police officers responded to a report of a physical fight between a man and a woman in the 2100 block of Glacier Drive in West Davis. Once the officers arrived, however, the man had left the scene.

Police later learned that Davis resident Jacob Hernandez, 21, allegedly had physically assaulted his former girlfriend after being asked to leave her home. During the assault, Hernandez attempted pulling items of clothing off the victim, police reported, and prevented her from fleeing his attack.

Hernandez was located Wednesday and taken into custody, where he was later booked at Yolo County Jail for assault with a deadly weapon, assault with intent to commit rape and false imprisonment.
