Davis police arrested a 42-year-old man Tuesday night on suspicion of robbing the Davis Food Co-op.

Lt. Glenn Glasgow said employees called police 10:20 p.m. to report that a man had forced his way into the store at 620 G St. as workers were closing up for the night. He reportedly grabbed merchandise and was able to flee from the store despite employees’ attempts to detain him.

Officers found a man matching the suspect’s description in the 900 block of F Street and took him into custody, Glasgow said. Robert Baker of Davis was lodged at the Yolo County Jail on suspicion of robbery, possession of a controlled substance and burglary in connection with a car break-in that occurred prior to the robbery.
