The Yolo County District Attorney’s Office has moved forward with its prosecution of a Davis man on suspicion of rape after asking Davis police for additional information about the case last month.
Thaddeus Jay Sonne, 21, pleaded not guilty last week to a charge of rape by force or threat, Chief Deputy District Attorney Jonathan Raven said Monday. He was assigned a public defender and ordered back to court Oct. 2 for a preliminary hearing, according to online court records.
Sonne was arrested on the night of Aug. 16 by Davis police officers after a passerby reported seeing a man and a woman having sex near the Amtrak station on Second Street.
Lt. Paul Doroshov said officers believed the 21-year-old woman “did not consent to the sexual acts” based on her intoxication “and along with other observations.” The DA’s Office initially declined to file charges in the case pending additional investigation.
