A man exposed himself to a 12-year-old girl Thursday in a Davis bike tunnel, while another youth reported being followed by a truck around the same time, Davis police and school officials announced Friday.
Lt. Paul Doroshov said the girl was riding through the tunnel near the 1400 block of H Street at about 5 p.m. when she saw a man standing at the other end of the tunnel.
“The suspect’s pants were around his ankles, and he was exposing himself in the victim’s direction,” Doroshov said in a news release. “The suspect made several lewd comments directed at the victim as she rode past him.”
Doroshov said the girl pedaled home and called police. She described the suspect as being 30 to 35 years old, about 6 feet tall with a large build. He wore a black T-shirt and gray dress pants.
The incident remains under investigation, Doroshov said.
At about the same time Thursday, a student riding a bicycle home from a play date reported being followed by a white truck in the area of Cowell Boulevard and Burnett Place in South Davis.
The truck was described as having a black stripe down the side, only one hubcap — on the rear driver’s side — and darkly tinted side windows. The male driver appeared to be in his late 20s or early 30s, with dark skin and black hair.
The South Davis incident was the subject of an email alert sent to parents Friday afternoon by the Davis school district.
Anyone with information about either incident is asked to contact the Davis Police Department at (530) 747-5400.
