Two men are facing criminal charges after allegedly scuffling with police officers last week in downtown Davis.

Lt. Glenn Glasgow said the two men, Ray Brent of Davis and Agapito Curiel of Bowie, Md., were reported to be fighting at about 2 a.m. Friday in the area of Second and G streets and were separated when officers arrived on scene.

As police were conducting their investigation, Curiel “attempted to assist Brent in fleeing from the officers,” Glasgow said. Brent was subdued at the scene, and Curiel briefly escaped but was apprehended in the 200 block of F Street, where he reportedly had gotten involved in another fight.

Glasgow also said Brent, 38, was found in possession of a knife upon his arrest, while Curiel, 22, threatened officers and tried to assault them at the police station, though no one was injured.

Both men were booked into the Yolo County Jail but were no longer in custody as of Monday.
