Two suspects allegedly assaulted a Davis man Friday night during a party. One was arrested, and the other is still at large, police said.

The incident took place in a residence on the 200 block of Russell Boulevard at approximately 10:48 p.m. Davis police Sgt. Dan Powell said two men were asked to leave the premises by the party’s hosts, which upset the men, and they allegedly assaulted one of the residents in response.

The victim was treated at Sutter Davis Hospital for facial lacerations and two broken teeth.

One of the victim’s friends followed the suspects, tracking the duo long enough for a Davis police officer to respond and make contact with them, who fled.

After a brief foot chase, the officer apprehended one of the suspects. The arrested individual was identified as Mohsen Ghanizadeh, 25, of Elk Grove.

Powell described the other suspect, who is still at large, as a male in his mid-20s who was wearing a white shirt and blue jeans.

Davis police were still processing the case report as of Saturday, but are requesting charges of battery with great bodily injury and resisting arrest.
