Three men were arrested for possessing and transporting marijuana early Tuesday morning after their car ran out of gas, according to the California Highway Patrol.

Officers were dispatched at about 3:45 a.m. to reports of a disabled Ford Explorer along northbound Interstate 5 near County Road 12, Officer Bryan Konvalin said. When they arrived, the occupants of the vehicle reported being stranded due to an empty gas tank.

During the conversation, the officers “smelled the strong odor of marijuana emanating from within the Ford,” Konvalin said. “Further investigation revealed that there was approximately three to four pounds of marijuana in the vehicle.”

Gabriel Camarillo Cervantes, 44, of Philo, and Comptche residents Manuel Walter Braga, 45, and Gary Grant Hill, 52, were lodged at the Yolo County Jail.
