Expired registration tags and the scent of marijuana led to the arrests of a Eureka couple on drug charges this week, the Yolo County Sheriff’s Department reported Thursday.

Scott Bradley Ridenour, 29, and Taylor Nicole Jauch, 19, were contacted at an Interstate 5 rest stop in Dunnigan shortly before 7:30 a.m. Tuesday after a deputy noticed their expired registration, sheriff’s spokesman Mark Persons said.

“During contact with the subjects, the deputy smelled the odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle,” a subsequent search of which revealed 11.5 pounds of marijuana, a half-gram of methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia, Persons said.

Both were lodged at the Yolo County Jail. Ridenour also had an outstanding warrant out of Humboldt County for grand theft, Persons said.
