Extra patrols, DUI checkpoint planned for holiday weekend

By From page A2 | July 03, 2013

The Yolo County “Avoid the 8″ DUI task force plans to conduct a sobriety checkpoint and saturation patrols during the Fourth of July celebration period.

Multiple agencies are slated to participate in the checkpoint, scheduled from 8 p.m. Saturday until 2 a.m. Sunday in the town of Esparto.

Law-enforcement agencies countywide plan heavy staffing levels Thursday. It’s also a maximum enforcement period for the California Highway Patrol, with all available officers assigned to the region’s freeways and unincorporated roads from 6 p.m. today until midnight Sunday.

Funding for the California Avoid DUI Campaign comes from a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
