A 12-year-old Davis girl suffered a broken leg and other serious injuries after being struck by a car Thursday morning, police said.

Lt. Paul Doroshov said the girl, whose name was not released, was biking across Russell Boulevard at Eisenhower Street at about 7:40 a.m. when she was struck by an eastbound Hyundai Elantra.

The girl, who had been wearing a helmet, was unconscious when emergency personnel arrived on scene, Doroshov said. She was taken to the UC Davis Medical Center, where Doroshov said she later regained consciousness but had suffered other injuries he described as “severe.”

The driver of the Hyundai, 27-year-old Cassie Lux of Indiana, was not injured, Doroshov said. The cause of the collision remains under investigation.

“No citations have been issued at this point,” Doroshov said.
